David Barber

 David Barber is Professor of Machine Learning at University College London and the Alan Turing Institute and is the Director of UCL's centre for Aritificial Intelligence. David is the Chief Scientific Officer of re:infer -- a deep learning startup focussed on solving conversational analytics and automation. David is fascinated by Artificial Intelligence and how to make computers smarter. "We live in exciting times with rapid increases in data and compute resources. How can we use them to solve grand challenges in AI like understanding human language, imagery and video." David has been at the forefront of AI research throughout his career. David Barber received a BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and subsequently a PhD in Statistical Mechanics approaches to Neural Network analysis from Edinburgh University.
