21 - 22 November, 2024 *With Tech Innovation Day on 20 November
Novotel London West, United Kingdom
We recently caught up with two of our keynote speakers – Emma Movitz, Head of Group Function Information and Reporting and David Rassool, Head of GFIR Data Science, Nordea – on the plan for their co-presentation of Lessons Learned Operationalising Data Science Techniques for Reporting and Governance – here’s part of the conversation:
Emma and David: In the beginning of 2018 we found ourselves re-evaluating parts of our strategy and questioning some targets. Why offshore? How much to outsource? Who should we employ? Are there any alternatives or complements? Issues we think will resonate with other leaders.
Emma and David: We saw several opportunities to work from different perspective as a complement to some of the more traditional waste elimination and sourcing initiatives we were driving. Our conclusion was to embed a team right in the middle of where these initiatives were taking effect.
Emma and David: We have a much richer understanding of our key value streams which goes far beyond the process steps and flows. We understand more of how well we perform work. We can augment and replace certain process steps, and design more efficient ways of working from the get go. We have opened up the field of business data science that goes beyond customer analytics, which is very refreshing and inspirational.
Emma and David: There is a lot to do in data management! So while we do target automation specifically, we see the best successes when we attack a problem from multiple angles. These different angles force us to think about the value we create and this opens a path to automation and other novel solutions. We dare to have a realistic and promising AI agenda for our financial data flows.
Emma and David: Mostly the speed we are running at and how we interact to press on. The embedded team started only 5 months ago…
Emma and David will be speaking at FIMA. Download the agenda to see their session and many, many more.
